Short answer
A discrepancy report records each issue found when checking documents against a Letter of Credit: what the credit requires, what the document shows, why it matters, who will fix it and by when. A consistent structure makes corrections faster and gives a clear record if the bank later raises the same point.
| Use | After checking documents, before presentation |
|---|---|
| One row per | Issue found |
| Close when | Corrected document received and rechecked |
Columns for each finding
- Reference (credit field or rule, e.g. 44C, Art. 14(c)).
- Document affected.
- What the credit requires.
- What the document shows.
- Severity (blocks payment / needs review).
- Action: correct, amend or ask for waiver.
- Owner and due date.
- Status after recheck.
Good practice
- Quote exact text and page.
- Group fixes by document issuer.
- Recheck every corrected document against the whole set.
