Short answer
The consignee and notify party on the bill of lading must follow the credit's field 46A wording, for example 'TO ORDER OF ISSUING BANK, NOTIFY APPLICANT'. Under UCP 600 Art. 14(j), the applicant's address and contact details shown as consignee or notify party must be as stated in the credit.
| Rule | UCP 600 Art. 14(j) |
|---|---|
| Typical | 'To order of [bank]' |
| Source | Field 46A |
Check
- Consignee exactly as required (to order, to order of bank, named).
- Endorsement needed if 'to order' or 'to order of shipper'.
- Notify party name and address as in the credit.
- Same data on other documents does not conflict.
