What to Check When You Receive an Export Letter of Credit
A checklist for exporters reviewing a newly received Letter of Credit before accepting it and shipping.

Short answer
When an export Letter of Credit arrives, check it at once against the sales contract: the parties, amount, dates, documents and conditions. Anything that cannot be met should be raised for amendment before shipment, because once the goods are shipped the exporter has little leverage and the bank pays only against compliant documents.
| When | Immediately on advice, before production or shipment |
