Short answer
Field 41a states where the credit is available and how: 41A names a bank by BIC, 41D by name and address or 'ANY BANK'. The second part reads 'BY PAYMENT', 'BY DEF PAYMENT', 'BY ACCEPTANCE', 'BY NEGOTIATION' or 'BY MIXED PYMT'. This tells the beneficiary where to present and when to expect funds (UCP 600 Art. 6).
| Options | 41A (BIC) or 41D (name/'ANY BANK') |
|---|---|
| Methods | Payment, deferred, acceptance, negotiation, mixed |
| Rule | UCP 600 Art. 6 |
Check
- Is the named bank convenient for you?
- Does the method match the sales contract?
- Does 42C/42P match the method?
- Is place of expiry in 31D the same country?
