UCP 600 Article 31: Partial Drawings and Shipments
When UCP 600 Article 31 allows partial shipments, and when separate shipments count as one.
Reviewed by LCCheck team (owner-approved) · 2026-10-12
Short answer
Partial drawings or shipments are allowed unless the credit says otherwise (Art. 31(a)). Several transport documents showing shipment on the same means of conveyance and the same journey, to the same destination, are not a partial shipment even with different dates or ports of loading (31(b)). The latest date shown is treated as the shipment date.
| Default | Partials allowed |
|---|---|
| Same vessel/journey | Not a partial (31(b)) |
| Instalments | Article 32 applies |
