MT700 Decoder: Paste a SWIFT Letter of Credit and Read Every Field

Paste the MT700 text with its field tags (for example :46A:). Each field is explained in plain English. Decoding explains the layout only — it does not verify that the credit is genuine or that documents comply.

How to read an MT700

An MT700 is the SWIFT message banks use to issue a documentary credit. Each field starts with a tag between colons, such as :32B: for the amount or :46A: for the documents required. Long fields continue on the next lines until the next tag.

The fields that cause most problems are 44C (latest shipment date), 45A (goods description), 46A (documents required), 47A (additional conditions) and 48 (presentation period). Read more in SWIFT MT700 explained, or explore a full interactive LC example.

This decoder does not authenticate SWIFT messages. Only your bank can confirm a credit is genuine.
